Georgia LangdonGeorgia is an Australian-born and raised Cook Islander with family ties to the islands of Rarotonga, Mauke and Tahiti. After gaining her bachelors degree double majoring in marine biology and aquaculture at James Cook University in Townsville, Australia, Georgia landed her dream job that she didn’t know existed on a tiny island in the middle of the Pacific (Manihiki, Cook Islands). It was here in the Cook Islands, Georgia met Sharks Pacific founder Jess Cramp. Georgia worked as a ‘pearl biologist’ in the black pearl aquaculture industry, as well as a science and data manager in the offshore tuna fisheries sector, representing the Cook Islands at various Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (RFMO) meetings.

After living the island dream for six years, Georgia moved back to Australia and currently works as a Senior Management Officer with the Australian Fisheries Management Authority, and is based on Thursday Island in the Torres Strait. Having always been a bit of a science and nature nerd, living by the ocean, watching David Attendborough docos, and looking for reef critters in rock pools at the beach as a kid, on weekends you can find Georgia out in her boat, exploring nearby islands, camping, diving and trying her hand at spearfishing.

If I were a shark:  I think I’d like to be a thresher shark. I love how they use their long caudal fins to whip and stun their prey. How cool!

My happy place: Anywhere in the ocean! (Preferably under it, rather than bobbing about on top. I get sea sick!)

When I was a kid: I wanted to grow up to be a marine biologist.

My favorite books, movies or podcasts: Jurassic Park 1, 2 and 3!
